As my passion and current life's journey is about service to the flute, the Earth and humanity through the flute, inspired by the personal growth I have achieved in my life in general and especially my flute journey, I thought I would share with you my basic understanding of what it can do for people and the philosophy I encourage and teach to those who are beginning or considering a flute journey.

The (NAF) flute is far beyond a musical instrument. It gets one living in touch with nature and the Earth just as do many instruments like drums and didge to name but a few. For the many people I have spoken to over the years who are drawn to this instrument they have described it’s sound as something beyond this world and I guess reasons are that it’s sound has such an amazing and evocative healing power that delivers you to a place of deep solitude, making it a very transformational experience. I agree and see it as a personal mastery tool and evolution fast tracker and beyond this the flute has particularly interesting differences over all other flutes that go together to create it’s uniqueness and beauty.

The way it encourages awakenings and change is through confidence building, pride, self acceptance, self belief and self love. This all comes through the experience of letting go and playing ones spirit songs. Spirit songs are our feelings, emotions and our essence and can manifest in many different forms such as; self healing melodies, dialogue with nature, release of feelings pent up or to show appreciation to a loved one to give just a few examples. At least that’s a way to describe them in the physical. Once this process has begun there is a snow baling effect of growth as the confidence these personal creations inspire in turn builds more self belief and self love etc. For me when I found a pool of love and beauty within that I never knew existed in such quantities, I had to ask myself “what else is in there?" This encouraged me to feel further inspired to experiment more and be open to that source of energy which I endevour to know deeper. I always come back to it through the flute especially if the day to day has somewhat withdrawn me. These are just words, the actual feelings can’t be described to give thier depth  real clarity or fair representation, only the feeling that direct connection with this instrument by playing it or to a similar but lesser extent listening to a CD for example, does. Playing is alot more raw too considering most recorded music is engineered and mixed with effects too. One of the greatest things about this instrument is that it is accessable to all and so easy to play so it dosent really matter if you consider yourself a musical reject (never true) or if you are a modern concert musician, in fact easier to pick up naturally if you are free from the paradigms of modern orthodox musical structure and theory.

I believe I can teach the principals of this concept to complete newbie's in 30 minutes, and with my encouragement of their new chosen journey and some very basic written material to read to help them understand their flutes and help their connection with the process of beginning the journey. I then send them off to find this through their own direction and experimentation as the engine to develop and realize their potential. There will never be any need to be dependent on a teacher for further lessons and musical theory, and music reading is not necessary either. Out of the connection and experience with this instrument can come amazing skills with some dedication. These are skills of the heart as that's where they take you, straight to your core where you are source not form. Through this attribute the flute helps you to connect more deeply with your higher selves and higher purposes of your creation and no matter where any individual is at on their journey it will help to keep you guided, balanced and in a state of consciousness especially when distractions born of the mind or that of this fast paced modern world present themselves.

These are some of the most amazing attributes of the flute. There are many other amazing attributes also on a physical level such as increasing the oxygen to the blood and strengthening of the lungs. It encourages relaxation, meditation, makes others smile, balances chakras, relaxes children, inspires peace and the list goes on. This stimulates the body into secreting chemicals that create inner peace, boosting immune response and promoting a general sense of well being.

I love my drums too and I sing spirit songs and drum to clear my home and bring good energy. They say the Drum is like the heart beat of Mother Earth and playing the drum can have a direct influence on our heart as we sink to the beat of the drum as they work on similar frequencies. The flute and medicine drums can also be used together, and separately, as a conscious shamanic manifestation tool, casually or in ritualistic ceremony just as with many other instruments. They can be incorporated in sound healing and clearing work so will work well in your home or with your business. Children too love the healing sounds of the flute and instantly go within to peace and stillness; the look of their soul through their eyes in this moment often says exactly what you are feeling as you play them song, showing the truth we are all one in spirit. It is only through form that our ego exists and humanities negative history was born of ego consciousness. Music breaks through form to reveal the real and the deepest truths of our existence and creation. Music is beyond form and language. Spirit music is a key to healing all things and to uniting humanity in peace.

We as a race of beings and the custodians of Planet Earth are now at a critical point in evolution. There has never been a time where inner peace and happiness has been more important therefore I say; playing your song to the world and to the far reaches of the universe will make the world of difference, it certainly won’t hurt trying.
